Newsletter -- November/December, 2001.

The December membership meeting of the Putnam County Historical Society will be held on Thursday, December 13th at 7:00 P.M. at the Bronson-Mulholland House in Palatka. The House has been beautifully decorated for the holidays. The choir from Peniel Baptist Church under the direction of Minister of Music Randy Rogers will provide musical entertainment for the evening. We will be saying goodbye to Joanne and Louis Jones. Joanne, our resident docent for the Bronson-Mulholland House, is leaving at the end of December. We appreciate the dedicated job that Joanne has done, and wish her and Louis the best for the future. We will saluting our other past docents, and have invited them to attend this meeting.

Our new docent, Guy Tillis will be introduced. Guy is from St. Augustine and has extensive experience in the tourist industry, which most recently involved his management of the Ximenez-Fatio House in St. Augustine. We are very fortunate to have a professional with this experience join us. Immediately following our program, refreshments will be served in the dining room. Please plan to spend the evening with us and as always, please bring along a friend.

2ND ANNUAL FALL ANTIQUE FAIR A GREAT SUCCESS

We could not be more pleased with Antique Fair this year. Great weather, super vendors, excellent food, and lots of attendees all resulted in a hugely successful event. For the second year, our management team of President Meri-lin MacGibbon and Society member Ann Hartwig, led a dedicated group of volunteers in our best event to date! Vendors, civic groups, area businesses, and Society members too numerous to list came together to make this an event that exceeded all our expectations. Thank you to everyone who played a part in this endeavor.

ON OUR CHRISTMAS WISH LIST

Like everyone else, your Society has a Christmas wish list. If you would like to leave something under our tree this year, here are some ideas. We are in need of light folding eight-foot tables, rocking chairs for the porches, banquet tablecloths, an American flag, and any item relating to Putnam County history. If you would like to donate an item or give a cash donation toward an item, please contact President Meri-lin MacGibbon at 386-659-2321 for details.

CONSIDER HELPING US JUST THREE HOURS A MONTH

Three hours a month sounds like such a small amount of time, but it means a great deal to us. Staffing the Museum on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays from 2 P.M. to 5 P.M. is an essential function of your Society and its dedicated members. Showing the Museum to the public is fun and rewarding, as you share our rich history with visitors from all across America. Please consider helping us in this vital role as a volunteer docent. Call us at 386-329-0140 for details.

FROM YOUR OFFICERS AND DIRECTORS

The most important part of our Society is our membership. We thank each of you for your support throughout the year in so many ways. We wish you and your family a joyous holiday season!
