January, 2018 Membership Meeting
"The Legacy of John and William Bartram"
The January, 2018 membership meeting of the Putnam County Historical Society will be held on Saturday, January 20th at 11:00 AM at the Bronson-Mulholland House, 100 Madison Street, Palatka.
Our first program of 2018 will feature Ken and Janice Mahaffey who will be talking about the legacy of early American naturalists John and William Bartram. The Mahaffeys and several other Bartram enthusiasts recently traveled by Amtrak to Charleston, SC and then Philadelphia, PA. In Philadelphia they toured Bartram's Garden, the oldest surviving botanic garden in North America.
The Bartrams travels along the St. Johns River and sites they visited in what are today St. Johns and Putnam counties will be discussed.
Light refreshments will follow the presentation. We invite you to bring along a guest. Early arrival is suggested as seating is limited.
